Introduction

Unani medicine also emphasizes the power of self-preservation and a Holistic approach to take care of specific structural and functional abnormalities. It is mainly based on Herbal medicines. It may comprise:

Description

The description of Cerebral Palsy in the classical literature of Unani medicine is available but in separate terminology's as "Humuq" and "Balahat" the latest terminology has been evolved as "Falij-e-Dimaghi" and the management has been mentioned up to some extent accordingly.

The Drug chosen for the Multimode Project

We have chosen to try a compound of Unani formulations, composed exclusively of herbal medicines which are also quoted in all classical Ayurvedic literature and references. Though the ingredients are well known, it is the purification and standardization carried out at Hamdard University that set it apart from many commercial preparations of similar nature. Its main ingredients include the following:

1. Centella asiatica (Brahmi)
2. Delphinium denudatum Wall (Jadwar)
3. Emblica officinalis Gaertn. or Phyllanthus emblica Linn. (Amla) 
4. Phoenix dactylifera (Persian date or Khazur)
5. Prunus amygdalus Batsch (Badam)
6. Piper nigrum (Kalimirchi)
7. Based in honey
