UDAAN Multimode Therapy gets international peer review

3rd International Symposium on Cerebral Palsy and the Brain Injured Child held at Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA from 17 to 19 July 2003

Dated:

July 30, 2003

 Dear Friends,

I take great pleasure in sharing wonderful news with you.

I came to learn that the 3rd International Symposium on Cerebral Palsy and the Brain-Injured Child was being held in Florida, USA. I wrote at the last moment (hardly a week before the Symposium) to Dr. R A Neubauer, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, who was organizing the event, to send me the abstracts of the Symposium, since we too were trying to do our own brand of HBOT based UDAAN Multimode Early Medical Intervention Therapy of Cerebral Palsy. I also informed him that our results comparing the benefits with Standard Therapy alone in 20 small children versus another 20 given Standard Therapy + HBOT + Acupuncture + Unani/Ayurvedic Drugs, was available on our website, http://www.udaan.org/multimode/conference.html.

Dr. Neubauer seems to have read our results, which so impressed him that by return e-mail, he invited me to come to the Symposium at their expense to present our results. The abstract I sent him for publication was so informative, that he allotted me 40 minutes to give my presentation in contrast to 20 minutes to all other papers.

Needless to say, I immediately got all travel arrangements done and attended the conference.

I presented detailed results and analysis of the role of each of the therapies we give and when to give each to get the best results. I could show what benefit we ascribe to each mode. My presentation included many serial video clips of children before and after therapy to conclusively prove our results.

It went off so well, that I was heartily congratulated by all eminent workers in the field of CP management present. Before I returned to India, I was surprised to receive e-mail from Charles J. Golden (Ph.D., ABPP, ABPN, ABAP; Diplomate, American Board of Professional Psychology (Clinical Psychology and Clinical Neuropsychology); Diplomate, American Board of Professional Neuropsychology; Diplomate, American Board of Assessment Psychology; Professor of Psychology; Florida Licensed Psychologist #PY-5226).

Prof. Golden wrote to me saying, and I quote: “Thank you for meeting with me at the Child Hyperbaric Conference.  We are very excited about working with you on research with children (as well as adults) who are receiving hyperbaric therapy.  There are several ways we can offer some (outlined below).  Please let me know by return e-mail as soon as you can what might be practical at your site.

I have written to him agreeing to his proposal. Hence, now UDAAN will be in official collaboration with two Universities: Hamdard University at Delhi and Florida University at USA.

This is a dream come true for us to keep the spirit of the special need children flying high throughout the world, an aim that we have tried to symbolize in our logo. Wish us luck, so that we may have the honor of doing much more for those who need our help and us.

Thanking you and with best regards

Sincerely Yours

[DR. ARUN MUKHERJEE]
